Accomplishments

I, Pezhman Bassiri, the owner of the Sourijan complex, am approximately fifty years of age, and I am honored to speak of my deep connection with the land of Kashan. My journey with this region began in 2002, through a valued friendship with the late Engineer Mightadaei, who is no longer with us. The foundation of this bond was established through the revival project of the Ameri House, known as the Pardisan Project. This opportunity allowed me to place my foot for the first time on the roof of a traditional mudbrick house, experiencing the timeless sensation that the people of this land once knew. Thus, my acquaintance with Kashan began.

Subsequently, my wife and I were in search of a peaceful and serene space—one not for mere entertainment, but for mental and physical rejuvenation. This space had to offer more than the noise and bustle of cities near water. The desert, with all its unique characteristics, provides this quietude and peace, and Kashan, as a city within the desert, seemed the ideal place to find such tranquility.

In this search, with the help of esteemed individuals such as Master Helli, we sought a small refuge—two rooms to begin with. Among the seven or eight houses we visited, the first one suggested to me, with its historical significance, instantly captivated me. Upon entering, I was certain this was the place we should choose.

Over time, we began to consider that the most beautiful thing we could do would be to share this tranquility with others. Perhaps, like us, many are searching for a peaceful space but have not had the opportunity to experience this land. This led to the idea of transforming the house into a hotel, where others could partake in this beauty and serenity. I firmly believe that every Iranian has a duty to preserve and transform the enduring heritage of our land into something valuable. In this spirit, we decided to restore the building with great respect for its history and identity.

Sourijan was not merely a historical structure; its foundation was built on love and passion. Every individual who contributed to its restoration did so with a pure heart and sincere intention. Whether from those who began their work with religious devotion, performing ablution and starting their tasks with a clear conscience, or others who worked wholeheartedly, everyone joined forces to create a fine and remarkable structure.

The year that passed was one in which time itself turned in a way that is perhaps experienced only once in a lifetime. We never imagined such a course of events. Initially, we thought that after the opening, we would be able to offer hospitality in a magnificent manner and gradually fulfill our aspirations. However, fate, which always transcends human ability, led us down a different path. Instead of merely focusing on hosting and sharing joy, we devoted all our efforts to ensuring the survival and continuity of this place, so that the light of Surijan would remain shining.

Now, one year after the opening of Sourijan, we remain hopeful that we will soon implement our future plans and realize our lofty goals. From the beginning, this project was brought to fruition through the collective efforts and harmony of all those who participated. From the teams working on its restoration to those who stood by us during the challenging times of the pandemic, their commitment to the survival of this place played a crucial role.

I would particularly like to express my gratitude to all those who joined us in this project, including those involved in content creation, technical support, management, and artistic design. What is presented here as art is not merely decorative elements but the result of the dedication and passion of the craftsmen who brought beauty to this place. I hope that this approach to art will continue in the restoration of other historical sites.

Finally, my recommendation is that in such projects, special attention should be given to local art and culture. This is the only way to truly preserve and honor the historical identity of every building.
